Main tasks and responsibilities in the project:
The Electrochemical Excellence Centre (ELEC) at VITO develops electrochemical processes, designs the relevant electrochemical components, integrates the system to achieve TRL 6-7, in the field of green electricity, electrochemical metal recovery and electrosynthesis towards high value chemicals. Gas-diffusion electrocrystallisation (GDEx) is one of the electrochemical processes developed within ELEC. GDEx will be implemented for the direct repairing and customisation of cathodic materials obtained by the delamination of electrodes from spent Li-ion batteries. Additionally, direct recycling of cathode active materials from the black mass using GDEx process will be carried out.
